Dracula, a ballet.

I went to see the Metropolitan Ballet do a preformance of Dracula last night. It was really cool, and my dance teacher's gonna be overjoyed that I went to see a ballet over the weekend. Well, I can't think of much else to say about it other than it was really interesting and there was only one scene I didn't like (the part where Dracula was travelling to England. It was just... dumb.) so yeah, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a ballet to go see. Which probably isn't tons of people, but ya know, whatever.

Ballroom bowling

Has anyone ever noticed how difficult it is to bowl in a ballgown? It's near impossible! I had to tie up my ballgown, and then the rubber band broke, and then I had to use another rubber band, and I still kept losing because
A) I suck at bowling
and B) everyone else's ballgown was easier to bowl in than mine. Really.
But, ballroom bowling is still fun, and I highly recommend it to any bored person. Or anybody who likes to have strangers asking to take pictures of them.

*sigh* the love of my life is a married author...

The Day the Saucers Came
By Neil Gaiman

That day, the saucers landed. Hundreds of them, golden,

Silent, coming down from the sky like great snowflakes,

And the people of Earth stood and stared as they descended,

Waiting, dry-mouthed to find what waited inside for us

And none of us knowing if we would be here tomorrow

But you didn't notice it because

That day, the day the saucers came, by some coincidence,

Was the day that the graves gave up their dead

And the zombies pushed up through soft earth

or erupted, shambling and dull-eyed, unstoppable,

Came towards us, the living, and we screamed and ran,

But you did not notice this because

On the saucer day, which was the zombie day, it was

Ragnarok also, and the television screens showed us

A ship built of dead-man's nails, a serpent, a wolf,

All bigger than the mind could hold, and the cameraman could

Not get far enough away, and then the Gods came out

But you did not see them coming because

On the saucer-zombie-battling gods day the floodgates broke

And each of us was engulfed by genies and sprites

Offering us wishes and wonders and eternities

And charm and cleverness and true brave hearts and pots of gold

While giants feefofummed across the land, and killer bees,

But you had no idea of any of this because

That day, the saucer day the zombie day

The Ragnarok and fairies day, the day the great winds came

And snows, and the cities turned to crystal, the day

All plants died, plastics dissolved, the day the

Computers turned, the screens telling us we would obey, the day

Angels, drunk and muddled, stumbled from the bars,

And all the bells of London were sounded, the day

Animals spoke to us in Assyrian, the Yeti day,

The fluttering capes and arrival of the Time Machine day,

You didn't notice any of this because

you were sitting in your room, not doing anything

not even reading, not really, just

looking at your telephone,

wondering if I was going to call.

Amazing, no? This is why Neil Gaiman is the love of my life.

Who doesn't love a pumpkin?

I gots me a pumpkin for Halloween. Isn't it the most absolutely picture-perfect pumpkin you've ever seen? It's going to be the head of a scarecrow come Halloween, so I wanted to take a picture of it before I carve it up.

Movie suggestion: Manhunter
Completely brilliant movie, go watch it right now.

Slowly but surely descending into madness

I was going to post something, but now I don't have the faintest idea what I was going to post. I should probably be doing my homework instead of being on the computer. I want to keep up my good grades ("A"s in everything, and an "A+" in Social Studies), so yeh, I best be off, I post something better than this soon.

Nonsensical blog of nonsense.

Um. I forgot why I'm writing this. Or what I planned to write. Maybe I was going to write about this telephone? I suppose that was it. Well, it's grey on the back and silveryish on the front, and all of the number buttons are either white or very light grey (I cannot tell) with black numbers on them and littler black letters, and the five has a raised dot on it. The "off" and "talk" buttons are silver and made of rubber, the "talk" ones got a little black phone on it and another raised dot, and the "off" one's got a raised line on it. The "menu" "hold" "flash" and "redial" buttons are dark grey with white letters, and below "hold" and "flash" it says "INTERCOM CALL WAIT" in black letters. The only button that's not a shade of greyish or silver is the speakerphone (or, as the phone has it spelled "sp-phone") button, which is orange. And, another funny thing about the speakerphone button, you'd think that if you turn it on by pressing the "sp-phone" button, you'd turn it off by pressing the "sp-phone" button, but no. You actually have to press "talk". It took me about a year to figure that out. Funny. Phones are funny things. Have you noticed that almost everyone's house you go to has a different phone? And a lot of the time it's near impossible to figure out how they work? Why are there so many different kids of phones out there? And why do so many of them work in syuch a confusing manner? Like with the speakerphone thing, why not just have it so that you press the same button to turn it on and off? That makes perfect sense to me, but it makes no sense to me to have to press "talk" to turn off speakerphone. What if instead of saying "talk" the talk button on my phone said "on", then to turn off speakerphone you would have to press the "on" button. That would make even less sense. Why is it that so few things make sense? And when things do make sense people are always like "That makes no sense." Like, have you ever watched a movie that made total perfect sense, and left saying to whoever you went with "Oh, yeah, I liked that movie." then had them say to you "Yeah, I liked it, but it made no sense."? So then you're thinking that maybe it's just something really simple that they didn't catch, so you're like "Well, what didn't you get?" and they're like "The whole thing. The whole thing just didn't make any sense." And you say "What about the whole thing didn't make any sense?" And they're still saying "It just didn't make any sense. None of it made any sense." Which makes you want to go home, and write up a detailed essay about how much the movie did make sense because IT DID and this person must be just confused. So then, instead of doing that, you explain it what seems to be perfectly understandable English everything anyone copuld possibly not get, finishing with "Now do you get it?" and the person just shakes their head and changes the subject. Has that ever happened to you? It's painful for the brain. Makes me want to smash my head through a wall. Like so many other things.
I'll be done boring you now.

HUGGED. BY. NEIL. GAIMAN.

I went to a Neil Gaiman booksigning on the 5th, and it was AWESOME. I'd be willing to say that if you looked "awesome" up in the dictionary, below the normal definition it would say "AKA, the Neil Gaiman booksigning and reading at the Riverview Theater on Oct. 5, 2006."
Seriously. It was so cool. And when my aunt was a getting a poster of his version of Death signed she said "Um, can I ask you a question?" and he was like "Uh, sure." And she said "Will you marry me?" and held out one of her rings, so he was like "Haha, no, sorry, can't, but I can give you a hug." So then me and my aunt Emily and my friend Willow all gut hugs from Neil Gaiman. It was utterly amazing. And now I have my copy of the first volume of his The Sandman graphic novel signed. And I told him that I loved him and he was like "Well, that's good to know." It was sooooo amazingly wicked cool.

And Camie, the blue dye is Fishbowl Blue by Special Effects, it's semi-permanent so it washes out after about 10-20 washes or so, and you do have to bleach out your hair if your hair is dark. Mmhm.

"I think I'll dye my hair again..."

I re-dyed my hair, so now it's got some bluuuee in it. This post really has no other point than to say that. Not a lot is going on with me lately. Yeehhhhh. Actually, there is one pretty big thing I haven't blogged about at all, my two best friends (Zoe and Andres) who had been dating for about three days short of a year broke up recently. Zoe wasn't even sad about it, she was just angry that he broke up with her before she could break up with him, but it really got to me. I know it shouldn't bug me, it's really any of my business who my friends date, but it bugged the shit out of me. Still does. It's really depressing. Like, I used to go to the movies with the two of them all the time and they would sit there and cuddle and stuff, and that isn't gonna happen anymore. And I used to tease them about eachother all the time, but I can't do that anymore. Even before they were dating, the three of us were always a group, we were always hanging out together, but now the two of them are pretty much avoiding eachother. I really don't like change when it comes to things like that. And I can tell Zoe's not taking it as well as she's acting like she is. I went over to her house and she had actually ripped off Andres in a picture of the three of us and burned the part of him. I don't know.
